Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming how we communicate, connect, and collaborate. This symposium foregrounds the vital role of communication in how AI is adopted, governed, and used in everyday life—advancing human–AI collaboration, strengthening transparency and trust, and ensuring equitable, ethical, and socially beneficial outcomes. Our focus is on use, governance, and impact (not on engineering new AI systems).
On August 21, 2025, the Chief Executive’s Policy Unit (CEPU) of the Hong Kong SAR Government visited the HKBU AI Media Centre (AIM) to foster knowledge exchange and explore potential collaboration. Since its establishment in December 2022, CEPU has been committed to bridging academia and public policy, leveraging expertise from leading tertiary institutions and think tanks through initiatives such as the CEPU Policy Research Funding Schemes.
During the meeting, CEPU representatives expressed interest in learning about AIM’s unique approach to advancing AI for social good, which emphasizes the social science and communication perspectives of AI’s impact on society. The AIM team shared updates on ongoing projects and their mission to serve Hong Kong communities through innovative AI research.
Both teams valued the informal exchange and agreed that this visit laid a strong foundation for future partnerships to enhance the integration of academic research and policy development for the greater benefit of Hong Kong.
We are excited to invite you to the AI Media Centre's latest workshop: Media Data Mining & Analytics Bootcamp. This is a unique opportunity to enhance your media data mining and analytics skills, and we encourage you to register and participate.
